Safety is a core value to our business.  At RFI our people are our most important asset – and their safety is our top priority.  We are focused on ensuring that all our people return home safely to their families at the end of their working day.

We have set clear leadership expectations for safety across all areas of our business.  Our people at all levels are actively involved in their own safety, as well as that of their team.  We continue to improve and manage the risks in all areas of the business to minimise the potential for harm.

What does work safety mean to you?

Work Safety is my first priority, meaning looking out for my own safety and also my fellow work mates. And because I’m such an active person if I’m not safe at work, then I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the many physical activities I love playing such as rugby league, basketball and many more.

What are some of the challenges you face in regards to safety in your job?

I work installing radio communication equipment inside underground tunnels. One requirement for our safety is to wear face masks to keep us safe from the dust and dirt from inside the tunnels. There is also a lot of moving heavy vehicles, so we have a keep our eyes opened for vehicles, giving them signals to slow down or stop when needed to make sure we stay safe.

How do you ensure you work safely?

At the very beginning of every shift I complete a pre-start risk assessment, to ensure that every risk that is involved in the task of that day has been covered off and making sure I understand it all. If there comes to a point where something changes during the course of the day, I’ll stop work and re-assess the situation.

What does work safety mean to you?

Safety at work means looking after yourself as well as other, ensuring no one gets injured. We all want to go home safe to our families and friends.

What are some of the challenges you face in regards to safety in your job?

The biggest challenge I face working in the warehouse is operating forklifts carrying heavy loads back and forth while unloading and loading trucks.

How do you ensure you work safely?

We have clear rules regarding forklift safety. I always follow the rules such as safe manual handling, and driving the forklift truck at a safe speed. But most importantly, I am always alert of fellow colleagues around while driving the forklift.

What does work safety mean to you?

Workplace safety to me means staying safe and staying injury free at work. I have a small son at home, and I want to make sure that I don’t miss of a minute of his life.

What are some of the challenges you face in regards to safety in your job?

There are many challenges faced in the warehouse on a daily basis which include forklifts, trucks in the loading area, cable reeling machines and even ladders in the picking area. As a supervisor, I am always identifying potential hazards and I lead by example, because safety is paramount for me and my team.

How do you ensure you work safely?

As a Warehouse Supervisor, I take safety very seriously. My team takes my lead, ensuring the workplace is free of any hazards. We follow forklift safety best practices and my team is always keeping aware and alert of others and keeping our surroundings safe at all times

What does work safety mean to you?

Safety at work means I can look after my health and ensure I don’t need to go through unnecessary hardships like injury which would impede not just my ability to work but my everyday life. It also means I need to be aware for others and make sure that they stay safe. I am very passionate about safety and here to help us all work and be safe as much as I can.

What are some of the challenges you face in regards to safety in your job?

I work in a very sedentary role. So I take breaks and ensure that I am moving and breaking up my day.

How do you ensure you work safely?

As member of our Health and Safety Committee, I am always on the lookout for safety hazards and will bring them to the attention at our committee meetings.

As I work in a very sedentary role, I set “break” alarms, which gets me up and moving and breaks up by day.  This also gives my eyes a break from my computer screen and allows my brain to “take  five,” which can be very important particularly on stressful days.  On a particularly stressful day a quick break can help to make all the difference so I can work productively and not get overwhelmed.

What does work safety mean to you?

Safety is always the most important thing in a workplace. The people on my team are a precious resource – so we I need to ensure a safe work environment.

What are some of the challenges you face in regards to safety in your job?

As an electrical engineer in product development, me and my team carry out lots of testing involving electricity. It is essential to follow all the safety rules to avoid any potential electric shock or fire hazards. Following the rules is not only for me but also for the work mates around me.

How do you ensure you work safely?

I make sure my entire team works to the safety standards we impose. We have loved ones waiting for us back.

What does work safety mean to you?

Its means looking out for myself and my teammates to make sure we all get home safely at the end of the day.

What are some of the challenges you face in regards to safety in your job?

Working on construction sites, there is always a lot of activity happening. You need to keep your wits about you and be always be aware of your surroundings when working and moving about the site. In a split second when just walking around a corner, someone carrying material or a ladder walking the other way can seriously hurt you.

How do you ensure you work safely?

Be alert, know your surroundings and look out for your mates.
