RFI Services Update Victorian Stage 4 lockdown

Message from our CEO Scott Magee

With Stage 4 lockdown coming into effect last night for the Melbourne Metro area, this has presented new challenges to provide an ‘as normal’ service for our customers.

RFI continues to be guided by Federal and State Health authorities and will be responding appropriately to the government guidelines and updates. So whilst we are on alert and watch this situation very closely, at this stage and based on the guidelines provided, we are still able to keep our doors open and business operating in all facilities, albeit with many of our staff now working from home.

In summary:

  • With our central distribution centre being located in Sydney we are able and will continue to ship goods throughout Australia.
  • Our Melbourne manufacturing facilities will continue to operate as ‘open for on-site work with a COVID Safe Plan’. This defines us as a permitted work premise under the latest directions provided by the Victorian Government.
  • We have implemented additional precautions throughout all our facilities to ensure the safety of our staff and our customers across the country.
  • The general COVID environment has and will disrupt the general supply chain, so we have been working closely with our suppliers to reduce any impact to the supply of our products.

We will continue to monitor the situation and follow the directions provided by the authorities. If anything changes from the above we will provide you with further updates accordingly.

RFI will always endeavour to ensure you have the latest information regarding your orders as and when we know, but recommend that you, a valued customer of RFI, regularly check in with your RFI Sales Representative around your specific inventory needs.

Our Sales and Customer service staff will be in contact on a regular basis and we hope that this contact will alleviate some of the risk that may come with potential supply chain delays.

Scott Magee
CEO

RFI Partners with Syntony‐GNSS to Bring Underground Location and Navigation Coverage Solutions to ANZ

RFI Technology Solutions has announced today they are partnering with Syntony‐GNSS to address underground GNSS positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) solutions under increasing demand with the burgeoning underground infrastructure being built throughout Australia and New Zealand. The Syntony‐GNSS PNT solution will plug the gap in GPS/GNSS/RNSS underground coverage in road, rails and transport tunnels.

Syntony’s patented SubWAVE/SubWAVE+ solutions expands the GPS/GNSS coverage to underground areas enabling accurate location information to be received by standard GPS/GNSS receivers such as those already in smartphones, navigation systems in cars and other road and rail vehicles, and increasingly in communications devices used by emergency services and other critical industries for operations and safety. The system operates by broadcasting synthetic location specific GPS/GNSS signals through existing or new leaky feeder antenna cables in underground environments.

Syntony GNSS is a leader and expert in the design and manufacture of GNSS systems and RFI has well established credentials in Wireless coverage Solutions which include significant experience in the design, system integration, deployment and support for underground and confined spaces applications.

RFI is the leader in wireless coverage solutions for tunnel and underground communications, and the addition of the SubWAVE/SubWAVE+ solution now provides a complete critical network coverage solution for the emergency services and transport industries and their increasing reliance on location and navigation services (e.g. GPS/GNSS) in daily operations.

President of Syntony GNSS, Joel Korsakissok, said, “We were very pleased to form a partnership with RFI. Their local knowledge and experience in ANZ, together with their dedicated installation, commissioning and support teams complement our flexible and world leading solutions.”

RFI CEO Scott Magee said, “We are excited that our local regulatory authorities have recognised similar needs for GNSS rebroadcast within Australia and are consulting with local industry experts. We look forward to sharing the joint expertise of RFI and Syntony with our local authorities and our industry partners as they chart a prudent course towards trials that will hopefully lead to licensed solutions for critical underground applications.”
