Local Council Infrastructure Solution

Our client is an automation integrator working alongside various city councils. The integrator develops total irrigation solutions for large scale parks and gardens.

In the past council workers and park rangers have had to attend each property to monitor the park and set timers for sprinklers and irrigations systems. This was a timely and costly exercise each day.

Maxon Australia worked along side the integrator to provide the communications to enable the councils to; monitor their irrigations applications in real time, monitor the diagnostics of the overall system. Program and access control switches to sprinkler systems. The Intelimax+ serial modem was used to monitor the application and diagnostics and the Unimax+ was supplied to connect to control equipment via Ethernet connectivity to provide the communications required in order to remotely program the irrigation systems which was accessed via maXconnect an online management portal.

Our client is now integrating this system across all of the councils and properties it consults for and continues to partner with Maxon in developing new innovations for these applications with the goal of saving money and resources.

Local Council Automation of Irrigation Solution

A single 3G Modem was required for different applications within a local Council infrastructure. Each of these applications were very specific in their operations. One application monitored ground water bores, which required real-time notifications of water levels. The second application was the council sports grounds, whereby the stadium lights were required to be turned off & on at a predetermined scheduled time to conserve energy. Maxon’s Engineering Team evaluated the Council’s requirements in depth and deployed the Smartmax 3G Industrial Router. A specific utility protocol was integrated into the Smartmax Modem. The Smartmax Solution provided a proactive insight to manage and identify any excess water leakage within their system to reduce losses. These key utility measurements can now be remotely monitored and managed within the clients network. The Digital Input and Output features of the Smartmax allowed the council to efficiently schedule the lights at the sports grounds to be turned on and off at the appropriate times. Maxon’s online management portal was the ideal companion to manage this feature from a tablet or smartphone. Maxon provided technical support and direction throughout the implementation of the customised solution. Maxon collaborated with the client to provide a total package that included services & solutions for a quick, cost-effective and streamlined implementation.

Yamba Sewage Treatment Plant

RFI completed the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) for the Yamba water treatment facility. It is a roof mounted 45kW grid-connected system. Fixed guardrails around the roof edges were also supplied and installed. RFI successfully managed multiple sub-contractors in this project to deliver better outcomes.

Doomadgee 264kW Diesel Hybrid System

Working with Ergon Energy, RFI designed and project managed the remote, isolated community of Doomadgee QLD wind farm. This 264kW solar farm is expected to save around 115,000 litres of diesel each year for power generation to the local diesel grid.

Solar in Schools Programs – Rounds 1 & 3

Project scope included site reviews, structural assessments & approvals, dilapidation reports & building approvals along with system design, project planning, procurement, logistics, supply, installation, commissioning, manuals, routine maintenance over the first 4 years & security connections for each solar power system built. This has been an immensely successful project delivered on time and on budget.
