Introducing RFI’s 800MHz Corporate Collinear Range

RFI is excited to introduce our leading range of 800MHz Corporate Collinears into the Asia Pacific Region, expanding our extensive base station antenna offering for our APAC customers.

The 800MHz Corporate Collinear series is being launched into Asia due to their technical characteristics being ideally suited to Public safety, utilities and transport solutions in the region. This includes applications that require wide bandwidth, higher power and more channels. The Corporate range’s PIM and PIP ratings plus greater pattern control enabling more predictable coverage from modelling through to implementation/rollout.

The 800MHz corporate series is a complete offering including 3dBd, 6dBd, 8dBd and 10.5dBd alternatives, in downtilt variants with up to 5° of downtilt.

These robust, high-powered antennas cover the frequency range of 746-870MHz, and are a great replacement for traditional exposed dipole array antennas, packaged in a low profile fibreglass radome, and field invertible mounting capability (0° downtilt variants only). This preferred form factor provides a reduction in wind loading, ice loading and tower loading when compared to exposed dipole array configurations.

Applications

RFI supplied the CC807 corporate collinear antennas into a wind farm project in the Baltic Sea. Typically these systems would use TETRA for voice and WiMAX for data, but this particular project has utilised LTE in place of TETRA & WiMAX.

RFI’s CC807 corporate collinear antennas have been employed on the offshore installation vessels, for their high strength, low profile construction and omnidirectional broadband coverage. Covering 746-870MHz band, RFI’s CC807 series antennas have been a great success in this LTE application.

RFI’s Corporate Technology

Performance

The true corporate feed design maintains full pattern stability over the broad operating bandwidth, similar performance only to that previously offered by exposed dipole configurations. RFI’s new corporate collinear arrays offer greater flexibility when considering site design and installation, combine more channels with more accurate pattern control, and no beam tilt cross the band. RFI’s corporate antenna range has been designed with an exceptional power rating of 500W across the band as well as a Peak Instantaneous Power (PIP) rating of 25kW to cater for the peak voltage levels present in large multi-carrier combining environments. RFI’s refined design processes and proven construction methods achieve a PIM rating of –150dBc, further ensuring performance is maintained for the service life of the antenna.

Corporate Structure

The unique corporate phasing system employed within this antenna ensures excellent pattern and phase control. This coupled with precision element reproduction and placement, produces exceptional bandwidth, offers lower loss, maximises gain and ensures PIM and PIP rated electrical performance throughout the lifetime of the antenna.

Corporate Design

RFI has incorporated its patented flexible PCB technology into the design of its corporate arrays to ensure repeatability and performance of the elements every time. The dipoles are grounded directly to a brass support tube, and onto the lightning spike at the top of the radome providing a robust finish with exceptional lightning protection, better stability and a reduction of static precipitation noise.

Digital Drift enables underground loaders to be operated from the surface at a nickel mine in Western Australia

An underground nickel mine in Western Australia has deployed the Digital Drift System to remotely operate their underground loaders from the surface. The loaders are fitted with RCT’s ControlMaster Guidance System and work across ore drives on multiple levels. Digital Drift connected eleven levels to the surface at a fraction of the cost of the fibre alternative, and was installed by the mine’s own tradespeople.

RFI Powers Sydney Metro Trains Facility With 1.12 MW Rooftop Solar Plant

RFI is pleased to announce it has completed supply, installation and commissioning of a 1.12 MW rooftop solar plant on the Northwest Rapid Transit Facility in NSW, Australia.

The installation is the largest solar system ever installed on a NSW government building, located at Rouse Hill, Sydney. The system consists of 3,287 solar modules and 15 large commercial grid-connected inverters.

From June to early October 2017, RFI supplied and delivered all the main system components on site and successfully installed the solar arrays and racking system within a strict project time-line.

“We are very proud to be involved in such an important infrastructure project for the people of Sydney”, Scott Magee, CEO of RFI commented. “With energy costs continuing to increase, we look forward to supporting governments across Australia in their efforts to minimise operating costs through solar energy”.

The Northwest Rapid transit facility will be the new home of the Sydney metro trains project. The Rapid transit facility is a brand new state of the art facility designed for train stabling, maintenance and the Operations Control Centre. All Sydney Metro trains will be serviced at this facility once the $8.3 billion rail network comes into operation in early 2019.

The solar system generates 1.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity a year, enabling Sydney Metro HQ and the new metro stations to reduce electricity operating costs and its carbon footprint.

The UHF Corporate Collinear series has been launched into Asia due to the technical capabilities being ideally suited to Public safety, utilities and transport solutions in the region. This includes applications that require wide bandwidth, higher power and more channels. The Corporate range’s PIM and PIP ratings plus greater pattern control are also key reasons for the release of the solutions into these markets. Greater pattern control enables site operators more predictable coverage from modelling through to implementation/rollout.

The expanded series includes new CC450 corporate collinears covering the full 450-512MHz, including both 6dBd and 9dBd variants with 0°, 3° and 6° downtilt alternatives.

Applications

RFI worked with one of the largest integrators in the US to supply its CC450 series corporate collinears into an LMR radio network upgrade, providing coverage for the most populous county in the United States, covering 88 cities and approximately 10 million residents.

The new network is designed to integrate a patchwork 40 aging radio networks, and improve interoperability to over 80 public safety agencies, with over 34,000 first responders working across the county. It was imperative to ensure that the base station equipment chosen provided durability, flexibility, longevity and stability in coverage.

RFI has supplied to date over 250 CC450 series corporate collinears for the UHF coverage, chosen for their full band coverage, range of gain and tilt options, and factory tested PIM and PIP ratings.

RFI attends AgQuip 2017

Thank you to everyone who visited us at AgQuip 2017 in Gunnedah, NSW. RFI has been exhibiting at AgQuip for more than 25 years. It is an excellent place for us to showcase our solar and IoT technology solutions to the bush.    The team were kept busy over the 3 days with product spotlights, on solar and battery storage, monitoring and control and wireless communications. This was the first year we brought our Maxon range of modems to the show. See you all next year!

Expanded Panel Antenna Range

We are pleased to further expand our panel antenna range with the release of the new BPA7496 series panel antenna, covering 746-960MHz, complementing the existing BPA3338 and BPA3843 ranges presently covering 330-430MHz. The BPA7496 series panel antennas are available in various horizontal beamwidth and gain options, and are ideal for applications requiring ‘corridor’, sectored, or other directional network coverage requirements, they are also well suited to diversity receiver applications requiring multiple antennas. RFI BPA series panel antennas feature  0-10° site-adaptable mounting capability and the inclusion of 2-12° adjustable electrical tilt (MET) on the BPA7496 series, catering for the many varying site requirements that exist today. To further satisfy high-performance network demands, all RFI BPA panel antennas provide excellent -150dBc PIM performance, 25kW PIP rating and a 500-watt power handling to cater for the demands of multi-carrier network deployment requirements. Models are available featuring up to 15dBi of gain, and up to 180° of horizontal beamwidth.

RFI Secures New M5 Tunnel Radio Rebroadcast Contract

RFI  Secures the New M5 Tunnel Radio Rebroadcast Contract

RF Industries Pty Ltd announced that it has been recently awarded a contract for the radio rebroadcast component of the WestConnex New M5 project in Sydney, Australia. This is the second contract relating to WestConnex that has been awarded to RFI.

The New M5 tunnel is a major component in Stage 2 of the WestConnex project, a key and critical element of the New South Wales (NSW) Government’s integrated transport solution. The project  will provide twin underground motorway tunnels, nine kilometres long, from Kingsgrove to a new St Peters Interchange, more than doubling capacity of the M5 East corridor, and substantially improving east-west access between the Sydney CBD, Port Botany and Sydney Airport and the South West growth areas.

RFI has provided radio systems for many tunnels throughout Australia and internationally. For the New M5 project, RFI will deliver detailed services encompassing the design, manufacture, integration and commissioning of the radio rebroadcast systems for the project.

RFI’s CEO Scott Magee commented “We are excited to be awarded this contract and to further our involvement in the WestConnex project. Our Australian manufactured solutions will now be implemented across the M4 and M5 tunnel sections of the WestConnex Motorway, showcasing RFI’s locally engineered technology solutions on a large scale as well as creating Australian manufacturing and services jobs. Both projects demonstrate Australian engineering talent as being truly world class”.
